Python 960 loc ★ 0 updated today live

A bot that reads the AI news so I don't have to, and posts what matters to Slack.

I built this because I was reading the same launch in five newsletters a day. It’s a GitHub Actions bot that watches top AI and tech newsletters and posts what matters to Slack. It checks for anything breaking every two hours, sends a digest at 8am, and remembers what it already sent, so the same story never shows up twice. Sources, keywords, model and digest size all live in one config file, so tuning it doesn’t need a code change. It has run on its own almost every day since.

How it works

  1. 01Collect. Watches newsletter and blog feeds, split into tier-1 sources (Anthropic, OpenAI, NVIDIA and others) and standard ones.
  2. 02Rank. A tier-1 source publishing something that matches a high-signal keyword counts as breaking; everything else waits for the digest.
  3. 03Summarize. Together AI's inference API (Llama 3 8B Instruct Lite) writes a short summary per story.
  4. 04Deliver. A breaking-news check every 2 hours, plus a daily digest at 8am PT, both posted through a Slack Workflow Builder webhook.

Tap a day, or a dashed gap, to see what happened.

What I learned

  • Put every knob in one config file. Changing sources or keywords is a two-minute edit, not a code change.
  • Dedupe is the feature. A digest I trust has to remember what it already sent me.
